PIXAR Animation Studio
The build-to-suit facility for Pixar required a 20-acre site acquisition and entitlements for a 400,000-square foot campus. After securing the land and entitlements, srmErnst completed design, site remediation, and construction of the $90 million, 218,000-square foot first phase in 2000. This building includes a central mall and state-of-the-art theater, and was constructed on an award-winning seismic base isolation system (building floats on large springs) with redundant utility systems. This project was awarded Best Interior Design 2001 by the East Bay Business Times.
